I am a 29 year old man living in New York. I began my low carb journey at 26 and not long after I was diagnosed with Crohn’s. I went whole hog into the Primal Blueprint lifestyle and I saw incredible benefits. I dropped 60 lbs, and I saw a huge benefit in how I felt daily and my intestines had improved. Slowly over time I kept eliminating foods from my diet: potatoes of all kinds, nuts, squashes, tomatoes, fruits, and it got to the point where I was eating meats and greens with the rare deviation. Then I listened to the interview on the JRE podcast with Dr. Baker. It stuck with me, though I was skeptical at first.
As March came around I decided to experiment and take the step to eating a Carnivore diet. I joined the facebook group and I read other’s stories to find inspiration and guidance. I ate 2-2.5 lbs of mostly ground beef, chicken thighs, some ground turkey, and around 6-8 eggs daily, with some goat cheese and butter thrown in occasionally. I continued to drink coffee, tea, and seltzer. I ate twice daily at lunch and dinner time. The rare snack was either salami or pork rinds.
Because I already knew to increase my salt intake and I had been fat adapted the transition was not difficult for me, but I did notice a challenge in my calisthenics based workouts early on in that I struggled at first but then it became easier.
The first thing I noticed is that my hunger levels surged very high, then dropped significantly. I’m curious how my Crohn’s has impeded my absorption, if at all. My energy levels were more consistent throughout the day. Previously there would be a dull fatigue towards the end but I’m more of a stable calm on carnivore. But most of all I felt the lingering inflammation in my gut decrease and my bowel movements (after the first week) were the most consistently solid and easy passings I have had in a long time. The inflammation I felt was in the upper right and lower left of my abdomen (duodenum and colon) and they were tender to light prodding. They are now far less tender and I don’t feel the swelling as I did before.
As for weigh loss: I did not drop much weight, but I did notice a difference in my measurements, my muscles were slightly bigger and definitely more dense, my waist was thinner, and I’m willing to bet my bone density increased. I have found a lot of benefit in the carnivore diet. But I’m an experimental person and I know I’m going to want to reintroduce fermented foods and mushrooms, maybe the occasional plant, but I know now the best way to return to baseline and reclaim my health. It’s easy to do and it’s very tasty.
I have quite a history with food and diets. Since Junior High I have maintained a 30 lb weight range (118-148 lbs) which fell into the “normal” range for my 5’5″ height. I struggled with anorexia in my early teens, and then in the 80-90’s, I ate low fat/low calorie, exercised, and was bulimic. Through 7 pregnancies and nursing I would eat “normal low fat SAD” and then return to calorie restriction and bulimia & over the counter diet pills/supplements.
In 2003 I tried Atkins, eating mostly low fat/low carb/low calorie and was able to maintain my weight without bulimia, but I still exercised regularly. Being hypoglycemic I had times I would pass out or even have seizures from blood sugar drops. In 2007 I turned to Paleo, but I was at my highest weight and didn’t feel comfortable/confident. In 2012 diagnosed with breast cancer & had a double mastectomy with reconstruction. I then began Keto/HFLC and chased ketones for several years!
In 2013 a rash developed on my shins, I saw numerous doctors and specialists with no answers (family doctor diagnosed scabies :/, dermatologist tried numerous topical creams and I ended up with the strongest steroid cream and living on Benadryl for itch). After some research, in 2015 I did a 21 day water fast – my skin began to clear after a week and by the end of 3 weeks I was free of rash & inflammation. I returned to eating Keto, and the rash returned. A naturopath ordered several tests & discovered I was gluten/dairy/nut/corn intolerant, my hormones were all over the place, thyroid wasn’t functioning optimally, and I had developed an autoimmune disorder. I then began AIP, which was very difficult as most of the veggies I liked were nightshades or on the “no” list. The rash and incredibly itchy, inflamed, red, alligator like skin was consuming me again – even the cream (could only be used 2 weeks then off 2 weeks) wasn’t working.
I listened to Dr. Shawn Baker on a podcast and decided to join the N=many experiment. I began carnivore 9/15/17 and within a week my rash was gone, and inflammation was greatly reduced. After 3 months I had no rash/achy joints/headaches/sniffles/inflammation, and my blood glucose is much more level. I would love to have dairy again someday, but at this point I’m just hoping to heal my body of the years of mistreatment. If only I had discovered Carnivore 35 years ago!!! I’ve continued to run half and full marathons and Pikes Peak since Carnivore, practice Yoga & feel fabulous and confident with Carnivore. 🙂
Just for some background, I’m 26 years old. I have been a police officer for the past three years and serve on a variety of specialized teams, to include the SWAT Team, K9 Bloodhound Tracking Team, and Riot Team. I have also been serving for the past six years in the Army National Guard as in a Light Infantry unit in charge of a heavy weapons squad. So over a deployment and the requirements of these units, it entails aggressive physical standards with a demanding training schedule.
The demands as of late have been weighing down on me, it was taking me longer to recover after workouts or call-outs, my sleep had gotten worse, and I had been putting on some noticeable body fat.
Cut to seeing Dr. Shawn Baker on Joe Rogan’s podcast. The science of Dr. Baker’s diet, the results, the evidence was very compelling. Moreover, the simplicity of it. It just felt right.
After a few months of the carnivore diet, everything has improved. My workouts have significantly improved, recovery is renewed, my energy levels are up, and my sleep is better than I have felt in years, my body fat is disappearing and I am steadily gaining more muscle. Then there are the other aspects. My grocery shopping takes 10 minutes on a long day and I look forward to every meal. I am finally eating the amount of protein I need to be getting and cutting out the carbohydrates and the sugar has really helped to lean me out and improve my mood, workouts, and energy.
Take the time to look into this diet and the science and research that Dr. Baker regularly displays. The results are real, you become a more optimized and resilient version of yourself.
I have been somewhat of a diet elitist and have been lifting weights for 15 years now. As science would tell you my diet begun with a high protein, high carb, low fat diet.
Whilst being at that time in my 20s it worked, but calories wise, I had to eat around 1800 to get to the body fat I wanted along with going through the motions of constant hunger, irritability and still struggling to lose that last bit around my waist.
Then about 7 years ago I stumbled on intermittent fasting and began eating in an 8 hour feeding window. This way of eating freed me from food and eating every 3 hours as we are told as bodybuilders. I had never felt better and mentally and physically had made significant improvements. As I dived deeper I realised my body was inducing a state of ketosis so about 5 years or so ago I began a keto diet and had noticed even greater physique and mental benefits. These benefits included reduces waist size and body fat whilst getting stronger, with almost super cognitive function and a greater sense of well-being.
One thing I had always felt in my keto travels, however, was in my day of eating when I would only have fatty cuts of meat with no other oils, butter or added fat, I would wake up the next day with more energy and actually look and perform much better. I now fast from 20 to 24 hours a day depending on my schedule and have been following your carnivore diet for 3 months now.
I just wanted to thank you Dr Shawn Baker for your words of wisdom. My body has transformed before my eyes and my performance is on another level. People are consistently commenting, and I now train full body every day with a ton of volume. I am strong and have a crazy amount of work capacity. I have made more improvements in the last 3 months than I have in the last 3 years, all due to this way of eating. I am never sore and even my little aches and pains have completely disappeared. I can actually get by now with less sleep and feel almost superhuman. I now eat anywhere from 5000 to 6000 kcals a day which consists of usually 2.5 kg of meat, usually in one sitting (with pink salt added). My taste buds and body make me crave this way of eating, and I now believe I have found the most optimal way of eating.
I first heard about the carnivore way of eating from my son, who had heard Shawn Baker on the Rogan podcast. I really thought he was nuts. At the time though, I had just been dealing with the start of Adhesive Capsulitis aka Frozen Shoulder… such horrific pain I was dealing with and no end in site.
I am a determined person and face things head on. I decided to research more and then after reading about the carnivore diet being anti-inflammatory, jumped in. This was February 10th 2018. Frozen shoulder can take years to resolve. I am now in the last stage of it, thawing out they call it. No more pain and range of motion returning. I did have a saline injection and some PT which also helped, but I am recovering much much much faster than a normal case.
I have also lost a solid 10 lbs, am losing inches, fitting into pants and buckling belts tighter. These are also good side effects! I love the simplicity of this woe [ed: way of eating]. I truly think it has helped heal me. 48 yrs old.
This is my daughter Lauren. We live in the Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia. Lauren has been with us since she was adopted at 2 1/2 years old. She was born with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and her body and mind is always very busy. Her main symptoms have been:
Facial features associated with FASD.
Lack of focus.
Delayed development and problems in thinking, speech, movement and social skills.
Problems with eyesight.
She has now been Carnivore for 5 weeks, but the changes to her life occurred within 24 hours of this WOE [ed: way of eating]. We started the day before school returned after the summer holidays, and the changes in her behaviour were immediate. She’s now calm and still, absorbing information with an open brain, rocking her times tables, and her reading ability has sky rocketed. She brought home a merit award for great attitude and diligent effort in classroom activities. She spends hours participating in constructive play, and last weekend the whole family watched a movie from start to finish with everyone glued to the couch. She knows all there is to know about her favourite subject of horses, and she is crushing her twice weekly Crossfit sessions. She struggles a bit with steak but loves a good roast chicken with lots of skin. The carnivore diet has been life changing for her and her future now seems so much brighter.
This week was Clean Up Australia Day and the whole school participated in pickibg up rubbish in the neighbourhood and all students were rewarded with a Super Dooper Ice Block. Things did not go well and she had an extreme sugar high followed by the low but it was a good learning curve for her and she has declared not to partake in treats at school anymore.

Loved your podcast with Rogan! I decided to try out the carnivore diet for one month to see how my body would react. Let’s just say my body loves it and I will be sticking with this diet forever! I feel amazing, I have seen a change in my body fat percentage and my over all health has improved. I suffer from asthma and have gluten and dairy intolerance. My gut & lungs have never felt better taking those products out of my life! Thank you!

My name is Trevor Williams, and I am 28 years old. I’ve been on a fitness and health roller coaster since I was in high school. I wrestled my entire life and have forever been under the impression that “carb loading” was the answer to size and strength. While it may be the quickest option, it sure does have its negatives.
About this time last year, I dealt with a bit of trauma that sent me into a 6 month downward spiral in regards to my mental and physical health. I was too depressed to eat. That was fine, because I didn’t really want to or have a reason to eat anyway. I was too depressed to talk to someone about it, also okay with the fact that I didn’t really want to do that either. What I couldn’t wrap my head around was that I didn’t even have the motivation to do the things I thought I couldn’t live without. It made absolutely no sense. One day my wife and I were cleaning our house and I believe we counted 24 Cottage Inn pizza boxes littered throughout our house. Keep in mind, this was just dinner over the course of a month or so. This is when I decided it was time for change. It started off with restricting carbs and following your generic, cookie cutter, high-fat ketogenic diet. I had a pretty quick turnaround in how I felt, but what I felt more was that counting all of these macro-nutrients was absolutely not for me. I found myself stressing to choke down more foods that I had to convince myself, or train myself to like in the first place. What in the hell was I doing? Once I first heard that there was a diet out there where people were tossing 3-4 ribeyes down their gullet each day and getting strong and lean, I was immediately sold. I obviously had questions since it’s the polar opposite from the carb heavy diet we’ve been conditioned to believe is healthy.
I listened to a few podcasts with Shawn Baker and Mark Bell talking about this diet and the hundreds of people that it’s already helped and I decided this was the move. I jumped in with both feet and instantly cut out the fluff and bought a few pounds of steak. I’ve been going strong at this for about two weeks and have already felt an increase in energy, a lift in my mood, a more dense body composition, performance in the bedroom, focus, and most importantly, my anxiety has almost completely subsided.
I have not been happier about a personal decision I’ve made in a long time. This is a very good thing, and I can already see that this is building a very strong community of MEATEATERS out there. I only hope that more people read some of these amazing stories and see the power of steak.
I’m 87 years old and have finally gotten my health back, or at least what I could. My diet now consists strictly of animal products. Beef steaks, liver, eggs, and bacon. No foods from plant sources. I have at last returned to my high school physique. Same weight, same pant and shirt sizes, namely 32-32 pants and medium shirts.
I have suffered from hearing loss, eye cataracts, slow heart rate that have been dealt with hearing aids, cataract surgery, and a pacemaker.
Prior to my dietary epiphany nearly 20 years ago, I ate lots of carbs. Pizza, pasta, doughnuts, rolls, buns, toast, cakes, potatoes, corn, beets and everything that was recommended by dietary guidelines. It was a disaster for me. My transition to avoiding all plant foods was gradual as I slowly learned how dangerous to my health they were. Fortunately I caught it before being diagnosed with diabetes. Now Zero Carb for almost 33 months.

I started my carnivore eating in the 90 day Carnivore Challenge in August 2017.
My weight after 90 days: 192 lbs
I have tried so many ways of eating. From Weight Watchers to Nutrisystem to Jenny Craig to Low Fat. I just got fatter and fatter. I was put on more and more blood pressure medication. I had more and more arthritis, swelling and pains. One knee joint was so bad, I had a knee replacement. That set off another series of inflammatory issues and more health issue. Sad indeed.
I followed the Autoimmune Protocol diet to resolve my AI Hepatitis after my knee replacement. I also tried the ketogenic way of eating, but it wasn’t until I only ate meat did my issues start to change. And wow, did they change dramatically! I am no longer on any antihypertensive medications. I take 1/2 of my thyroid medication every other day. No more joint pain in knees, fingers, hips, or great toe, so I am no longer take any anti-inflammatory medications. My anxiety dramatically improved. I can walk long distances again. My left lower leg no longer goes numb. I can actually stand without worrying of falling or stumbling when I walk. My post Carnivore 90 Day blood work showed some improvements in a few of the lipids.

I am no longer pre-diabetic. I am tracking the dyslipidemia and coronary calcification. I will have additional testing for both next August.
I will continue to eat meats, drink water, coffee and an occasional wine.
My health journey continues and I will keep you updated as to my cardiac improvements!
