My story has several parts to it, to gain a full understanding of the way changing to a carnivore diet has impacted my life. It’s a long one!

As a single adoptive parent of 6 special needs children and 2 biological children, I have been accustomed to thinking outside the box. All of my special needs children have been diagnosed with multiple challenges related to fetal alcohol and drug exposure. Their behavioral and physical needs are extensive.

I also have several medical diagnosis, including Multiple Sclerosis, psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis, PCOS, and a few gastrointestinal disorders.

Just over 2 years ago, after traveling extensively in Latin America, I, and 7 of my children, left the US to travel the rest of the world. Our intentions were to be of service to others everywhere went. We called it our Great Global Gratitude tour. As a family, we were certain that THIS would help my kids find a way to heal and feel useful in a world that otherwise didn’t hold a great future for them. Others had come before me who had tried the usual methods.

I homeschool my kids, and at the time we ate a “healthy diet”, limiting sugar and processed food, eating locally produced and as inexpensively as possible.

After we arrived in Europe, my health started failing rapidly. I had a large mass in my abdomen, which was deemed a “tumor”, certain it was cancer of the stomach. I was less certain and, as we left the country because our visas expired, I undertook a study of what would heal me naturally. I was taking several meds at the time for pain relief, including steroids to control the effects of MS and degenerative arthritis. I continued to gain weight, which added to my misery!

I embarked on a vegetarian diet and raw juicing to attack the mass in my abdomen. My kids, in an act of solidarity, wanted to become vegetarian with me.

The mass did shrink and for a few weeks, I got better! I was all in! My other health probs didn’t really improve, but I felt that was ok, as my condition was not expected to improve, just gradually worsen over time.

Just when we landed in a country where we thought we would stay on longer – there was so much we could do to serve others! – the nightmare began.

In January 2017, my health started quickly declining. There were days I could barely get out of bed because of pain and harsh digestive issues. My mobility decreased and pain escalated.

By May 2017, as we were building an NGO to help children with the same problems my own kids have, the unimaginable occurred. I was arrested in a foreign country with a history of governmental corruption. My children, under the care of my 21 year old son, had to flee the country for safety. I was held as what was described as a political prisoner, without official recognition, in a concentration camp-like prison for a month, before being released to house arrest. At least I could communicate and work on my release.

With my children away, our finances left almost non-existent, and health rapidly declining, on the advice of a doctor, I began preparing for the worst. I would likely not make it out of this situation alive. Taking my own life seemed an option, as I was worth more dead than alive. At least my kids would be taken care of and I could avoid the last few months of agony.

I didn’t pursue that option, finding hope and strength in my desire to find a miracle that would allow me to see my children grow up. I still made arrangements for my end, to make sure that the process went as smoothly as possible for my family and awaited the inevitable natural end of my life.

By November 2017, I loosened my grip on vegetarianism/veganism. My weight was up to 238 lbs and I was often using a cane to walk. I had little muscle tone and a very limited range of motion. I studied more about health and returned to my past paleo mindset. I slowly increased eating meats, as I readjusted to digesting solid foods and less fiber. My children were able to return to me safely in this country and things improved somewhat.

Then, I came across the carnivore approach. I didn’t think I had much more to lose, so I dove in!

Within a week the pain and inflammation subsided. My hands, which had become gnarled from arthritis, began to straighten. By week 2, I stopped all meds and near full mobility returned.

I was granted 2 hours a day outside my home for exercise and for personal needs, Without pain, inflammation and with new mobility, I started walking. By the end of week 3, I was able to walk several miles a day! I could sleep and eat and weight started melting off! I even had noticeable muscle tone developing.

In week 4, I was doing so well, my kids wanted in on it. My eldest son started and developed greater muscle mass and a lot of fat loss immediately.

Through my studies, I found there may benefits for kids with needs such as mine have. My youngest special needs child, with multiple behavioral challenges, low IQ, and gorging issues (all from FASD and fetal drug exposure) started behaving more appropriately and speaking more clearly, fewer tantrums, could study and retain what he read. My teen daughter’s cystic acne cleared, her anxiety lessoned, she became more social and SWEET! What kind of miracle was this?

As of today, I have lost over 50 lbs. I can walk, bend, squat, do almost anything. I have no signs of ANY OF THE DIAGNOSED ILLNESSES. I can now hike miles and miles everyday, walk 4 flights of stairs several times a day, no choking and have no pain. No meds, no seizures, no “hugs” except from my kids, no more gnarled hands and feet. I am free to continue to travel the world with my kids and don’t worry about dying and missing out on their lives on a daily basis! My kids are like new people. We gained a new hope for the future!

The results were swift, dramatic and powerful for all of us. After 11 weeks starting carnivore, and seeing such amazing results, I began taking a positive approach to everything. Every aspect of my life has improved to a level I have never experienced. I began encouraging others and meeting their needs, when only weeks ago, I could not meet my own!

I was recently released from prison. After a full year, I am free. It’s significant on so many levels, to be free from the physical prison of my body, the prison of my mind and the literal prison of this country. With greater mental clarity and no depression, I can forward now. Even the financial challenges we face no longer seem insurmountable. We can leave this country when I have the financial resources to do so, and I go forward in strength and power, with a new purpose.

In December 2017, Raenn was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis, and many other health issues. She didn’t think she’d see another Christmas.
Today in mid-2018, Raenn has lost weight, regained her health and has a new and better lease on life.

Well folks, the time has come..
One year of carnivory!! Celebrating with a big ole’ chuck roast & decoration.

Couldn’t thank High Steaks and Shawn Baker enough for challenging my beliefs into carnivory at the beginning along with many others soon after, even after over four years ketogenic.

Here is my before/after, from S.A.D. to keto to now thriving on red meat, stronger & feeling better than ever, being asked “What high school do you go to?” at 25. Over 140lbs lost for good.

To those who think they “can’t do it” or this lifestyle “isn’t sustainable”, allow those who have been carnivorous for years to teach you their ways, educate yourself (JustMeat.co has many resources) & build off your own personal successes.

While some may tolerate modern foods & the familiar state they’re in, I challenge you to remove yourself from them, experiment & learn from your body.

This lifestyle has been nothing short of extraordinary: Little/No inflammation, constant energy, mood significantly improved, clear skin, calm/relaxed state, perfect bowels, increased sun tolerance, muscle gain, fat loss, the list goes on & on.

Plan to continue the carnivorous lifestyle indefinitely, learning every step of the way.

When I started trying to lose weight, I tried everything imaginable. I tried juice cleanses, shakes, eating nothing but steamed broccoli, starving myself, etc. You name it, I tried it. My initial weight was 300+ lbs. I was in size 48 jeans (that were already stretched, so more like a 50). I was able to get down to around 250 lbs. but plateaued and couldn’t break my stall. Again, trying everything I could to get rid of my fat, I starved myself for days on end and tried eating “healthy” veggies for the majority of my intake. That failed.

At this point, I stumbled across keto. I tried it out and had amazing results. I dropped down to 200 lbs. in about 4 months at this point with ease. After a year of keto, I noticed that the fewer carbs I had in a day, the better I felt the following day. So it only made sense to cut out all of the carbs all together. I have now been carnivore (zero carb) for 5 weeks and I fell amazing! My energy is through the roof and I’m still able to workout twice a day with no supplements.

I’ve spent thousands of dollars over the years on supplements. Taking multivitamins, protein powders, BCAA’s, pre-workouts, etc. in the hopes of attaining a healthier me. Once I went carnivore, I decided that I was going to cut everything out and give this an all out chance to heal my body. I have successfully stopped the use of all supplements and notice no ill effects without them. Plus, I now have about $200 a month extra for meat.

This is definitely sustainable. I don’t foresee myself getting off of an all meat diet in the future.

Heard the story on JRE and went all in. I talked about it a lot which helped me be consistent and dedicated. I lost 35 lbs with no muscle or strength loss.

I always had digestive issues, which were solved very quickly. One of the best side effects was it gave me consistent energy throughout the day where I used to get very groggy at work after lunch. It also allowed me to kick a sugar addiction I was developing. As a kid I was always thin and as a young adult I tried to bulk up by eating a lot, which was only adding fat. When I changed to only meat and eggs, I leaned out immediately and looked much better. “Get leaner to look bigger” was especially true for my frame and helped me accept that at my best I am lean and muscular and carnivore, not big and round and a carboholic.

I have struggled with weight loss MY ENTIRE LIFE. I have been a 14/16 since I was in high school. I have always accepted my body and been very confident but always wanted to lose weight. I also have worked out very frequently my whole life, but it was a challenge because I had joint pain. My knees were so bad any type of high impact was a no. And I just accepted it. 3 years ago I went vegan in an effort to help my joint pain and lose some weight. How terrible that was. I gained 25 pounds, I was always starving, lethargic and developed severe digestive issues. I went from someone who could eat anything (including once a VERY expired yogurt) and not have it bother my stomach to someone to was bloated, in pain, was having painful BMs 6-9 times a day and a hemorrhoid I couldn’t get rid of. I was in misery.

I heard Dr. Baker on Joe Rogan’s podcast and was instantly intrigued. As someone who had “you have to eat vegetables and fruit to lose weight and be healthy” engrained in them their whole life, I found it crazy you could eat only meat and feel good. WELL… that’s exactly what happened. I went carnivore at the end of March and have NEVER FELT BETTER. No more joint pain, no more brain fog, my skin is better (tho I never really struggled with any skin issues, it looks so much better), I feel energetic, lighter. I have lost 3 sizes since and have been able to do high intensity, challenging workouts I LOVE and could never do. Plus, it’s so refreshing not to obsess about what to eat. And to know what true hunger actually is and to eat when YOU ARE TRULY hungry and not bored or emotional or being social. THANK YOU SO MUCH, DR. BAKER, FOR CHANGING MY LIFE!

I have had mental health challenges since the age of 18. I played semi-professional soccer for a number of years until injury requiring extensive surgeries ended those days at age 25.

I have experienced chronic pain, nerve pain, weight gain, microalbmuniria, high BP, and insulin resistance.

In 2013 at age 35 in the same month I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis and Psoriasis.

After continually fighting for my health, I saw an endocrinologist that got me onto eating only when hungry and with lots of meat and vegetables. I lost 4kg this way and started to explore just eating meat. After hearing Shawn on the Joe Rogan podcast I was convinced this was something I had to try. At the time of commencing on Feb 26, 2018, I was 113kg and about 29% body fat. Today (July 9) I am 100kg and 18.4% body fat. While I started and stopped in January due to getting the flu, I have since been a consistent Carnivore.

My health has been in the best shape in last 6 years. I had a psoriasis outbreak in March and continue on a biologic medication for this and the PsA. In the time of meat eating I have resolved all GI upsets, energy levels are best in years, I am sleeping better, and I am moving better. I am able to do strength training again for the first time in 5 years as well as Jiu Jitsu 4-5 nights a week. The way I am feeling makes this method of living the best decision for me. It is so easy and so fulfilling. I generally eat 1-2 times a day and sometimes once. Fatigue from Autoimmune illness is the most common issue and this method alleviates that dramatically with a profound impact on my lifestyle.

While I still have some tendon/ligament pain and my skin is still slowly recovering, the way I am feeling today cannot be beaten.

I am looking forward to the next 6 months to see where my health is and fitness goals achieved.

I have been engaged in a carnivorous diet since January and have gone from 270lbs at my highest, down to 197 today. Many aches and pains are gone, and my cardiovascular health is 100x better. I can breathe, I can carry things, I can run with no problems. I am 35, but I feel like I’m 21 again. Hopefully this inspires other people to try, like you did for me.

Since I was about 10ish years old I’ve had issues with food related illness. At first it was random sickness after eating, or little desire to eat. By the time I was 15, I full on could not eat a solid meal. Two bites in and I was SICK! It was awful because I was hungry and knew I had to eat something, but no matter what I ate it would make me feel like crap. Needless to say, my weight and body composition was changing constantly and rapidly. There were many times where I could not handle eating for days at a time. Often times there were weeks in a row where each day I would consume less than 200 calories. At 15 I dropped 20 pounds in less than 2 weeks. Obviously my parents and I were scared. We sought medical help, which led to me going for scans, MRI’s, ultrasounds (internal & external), and so much blood work it looked like I had track marks. And what did they find? NOTHING!

So here I am, 15 years old and hardly able to eat, lethargic, sleeping close to 18 hours most days, and with no explanation of why.

Fast forward to age 18. I find out I have celiac disease. Hooray! I have an answer. Or so I thought.

I went on a super strict, absolutely no gluten diet. There was absolutely no change in my stomach problems. I was still sick and in pain no matter what I ate.

Now over the next couple years I kept it strict, but also ate very “clean”. I’ve never had a sweet tooth so it wasn’t hard. But I ate mostly lean meats and carbs. I even tried vegan (and felt 1000x worse immediately so stopped after a short time). I had nearly given up on finding anything to help. My chronic pain, daily migraines, sickness, inability to work, and depression were all piling up on me, putting a strain on my marriage and causing me to be dangerously suicidal. I even found out that I nearly never ovulated, meaning if I ever wanted to have a baby, there was nearly no chance.

Then I heard about Keto.

As someone who often thought against the norm, the idea of having high fat rather than high carb didn’t seem outlandish to me. So I researched as much as I could for about 3 months and then jumped into Keto immediately after having a breast reduction surgery at age 20.

In 3 days I had no more bloating. In 5 days I felt like eating. In just over a week I noticed I wasn’t sick when I ate. In 2 weeks I noticed I no longer had migraines. In 1 month I had energy! I used to NEVER have any energy.

Today, I am 21 years old. I am practicing a hybrid of Keto & Carnivore. I’m never sick after eating, meaning I can finally enjoy food! Migraines are gone, as well as most of my joint pain. I ran my first race ever. My cycle is perfect, and I ovulate every month. My skin is clear. My relationship with my husband is better and stronger than ever. I’m working part time as a safety manager.

But best of all, I am finally happy.

I was raised by older parents who had gone through a series of health issues, especially my father who had a heart attack at 46. I was born shortly after his heart attack which led him on a health quest which led him to be a vegetarian/vegan and so I was raised on mother’s milk, carrot juice and coconut milk and was a bright orange, skinny baby. I was a thin child until I got older and discovered McDonald’s where my daily order became 6 cheese burgers, a large fry, and coke to wash it all down. Of course this led me down a path of becoming an obese young adult. I tried every diet known to man and just made a lot of companies rich selling me their snake oil treatment of the month. My parents both became obese eating cheap processed vegan foods like bread with margarine, potatoes and pasta.

My older brother had developed type 2 diabetes due to his weight, and I watched them slowing remove his toes and fingers, watched him go blind, undergo a kidney transplant, and then die with early onset dementia. Of course he was eating his recommended 300 grams of carbohydrates each day while restricting healthy proteins and fats. He was constantly upping his insulin dose to keep up with his rising glucose levels due to all the carbs and being disabled due to all of his health issues, which pretty much kept him bedridden.

I finally decided it was time to try being a vegetarian/vegan since that was the way I started life and was thin. When you go from a SAD diet to eating more veggies you feel better for sure, but it was not long before my weight began to climb due to all of the carbs. After years of weight gain and topping the scales at over 300 pounds, I refused to get on a scale after 306 showed up. Having a Dr. tell me that I would eventually need a knee replacement due to my weight, along with a consistently rising blood sugar, I decided to give Paleo a try. Paleo was a godsend, and my weight started to drop, but I quickly learned that I could still eat a lot of “healthy carbs” in the form of sweet potatoes, rice and sour dough bread, so the weight loss stalled pretty quickly. Some of my Paleo friends started talking about the success they were having going to a high fat, low carb diet called keto. Since I was stuck at around 250 pounds I decided to give it a shot. After all of my vegetarian/vegan training, the idea of eating more animal products took me couple of months to get over, but I was determined to get to my natural body weight so I ordered some grass fed beef and found a local source of true free range eggs, and I was off and running. I quickly lost another 30 pounds and felt much better but was still experiencing some joint pain, especially in the knee the Dr. has suggested be replaced.

Mick sought out high quality meat products, and on a keto and now carnivore diet has transformed his health.

A couple of months ago as I was fixing breakfast, and I was listening to a podcast, and there was this Dr. talking about the benefits of an all-meat diet, my first thought was this is nuts, but at the same time I was intrigued after my keto success. So I listened to every podcast that Dr. Shawn Baker had done and started researching, and I liked what I found. I have been carnivore for over 2 months and have never felt better. I currently weigh 195 pounds, have a six pack, zero joint pain, an A1C of 5.1, blood pressure is 115 over 68, and my resting heart rate is 62. On my next birthday I will turn 60, and I am in the best shape of life.

What can I say, Meat Heals!!!!

I went from 73kgs with mild fatty liver and very high visceral fat double digit score to 63.7kgs on keto, no gym (July 2017 – Dec 2017). No more fatty liver and good visceral fat score.

Then I went full CARNIVORE (Dec 2017 – present), and now I am 68kgs and stronger and more powerful at the gym (started Feb 2018), quick recovery, zero supplements needed!!
